It’s Official: We’re Running in 2026—Pa’ la Gente!

Chelsea Dimas Announces 2026 Campaign for State Representative in Washington’s 14th Legislative District

SUNNYSIDE, WA – Chelsea Dimas, community leader and Sunnyside resident, officially announced her candidacy today for State Representative in Washington’s 14th Legislative District.

In 2024, Dimas made history as the first Democrat in 16 years to advance from the primary in the district, coming historically close to flipping the seat in the general election. Now, she is launching her campaign with renewed determination, focused on bringing this win home pa’ la gente. At a time when many are questioning whether government still works for them, Chelsea is stepping up with a clear purpose– to ensure her community is heard, respected, and represented.

“My commitment to our comunidad didn’t start with the last campaign, and it certainly didn’t end there,” said Dimas.

“I’ve remained on the ground, showing up wherever I’m needed—whether it’s fighting for workers’ rights, speaking out on affordability, or defending our immigrant communities. The 2024 election was a clear sign of what our comunidad can achieve when we organize and show up, redefining what’s possible for this unique district. When my community calls, I answer. And I’ll continue doing so, especially now when our rights are under attack every day and our current state leadership continues to fail to represent us or at the very least, speak up.”

Dimas currently serves as a Commissioner on the Washington State Human Rights Commission and the Commission of Hispanic Affairs as well as the Eastern WA Vice Chair for the Environment and Climate Caucus of the Washington State Democrats.

She is running on a progressive, community-driven platform that includes:

  • Affordable Housing / Viviendas Asequibles
Expanding affordable housing solutions, supporting first-generation homeowners, helping our unhoused neighbors, and strengthening tenant protections.

  • Workers’ Rights / Derechos de los Trabajadores
Advocating for livable wages, job protections, and safe workplaces for all—regardless of immigration status.

  • K-12 Funding and Education / Financiamiento K-12 y Educación
Fully funding schools, supporting educators and staff, investments in Early Childhood education, universal childcare, and ensuring culturally relevant, equitable learning environments.

  • Quality Healthcare for All / Atención Médica de Calidad para TODOS
Addressing access barriers, staffing shortages, and creating more healthcare jobs across the district.

  • Safe, Healthy, and Thriving Communities / Comunidades Seguras, Saludables y Prósperas
Prioritizing mental health, addiction services, public safety, and violence prevention with restorative approaches.

  • Protecting Our Natural Resources / Preservando Nuestros Recursos Naturales
Holding polluters accountable and protecting air, water, and land for future generations.

Chelsea will officially kick off her 2026 campaign with a community fundraiser this September in Grandview, WA, featuring special guests from the United Farm Workers, Senator Rebecca Saldaña, Pasco Councilmember-Elect Mark Figueroa, and more. The event will highlight Chelsea’s vision for the 14th and offer ways for community members to get involved.
